Sleep Dank returns for Part 2 of his in-depth conversation with Banski on The Banski Show, continuing the story of his life, career and firsthand experience inside one of the most important eras in Bay Area rap history.

In Part 2, Sleep goes deeper into his journey from Vallejo’s Country Club Crest into the music business, sharing firsthand stories involving Mac Dre, Dubee, Mac Mall, PSD, Khayree, Cutthoat Committee, Thizz Entertainment, E-40 and more.

Sleep gives the inside story of the major role he played in helping bring Dubee and Khayree together — explaining how the opportunity developed, how he repeatedly approached Dubee about the deal, and how he eventually became directly involved in negotiating a pivotal record deal in Dubee’s career.

He also takes us inside his years around Mac Dre, from recording and traveling to watching Dre rebuild his momentum and eventually launch the Thizz movement. Sleep reflects on Cutthoat Committee, the chemistry between Dre, PSD and Dubee, his own place within that circle, and what it was like witnessing Mac Dre regain his position and build something on his own terms.

The conversation goes deep into the business behind the music as well — record deals, distribution, SoundScan, City Hall Records, independent releases, lost projects and the moves that allowed Sleep to continue releasing music throughout his career.

Sleep also opens up about his relationship with E-40, explains what he believes people misunderstand about 40, and gives his perspective on the controversy surrounding E-40 Day originally being announced for Mac Dre’s birthday.

The conversation also moves into hip-hop today, with Sleep and Banski touching on the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar debate, Drake's cover of Mac Dre's '2 Hard 4 the Radio', and sharing their perspectives on the battle and the larger conversation surrounding it.

And near the end of the interview, the conversation takes an unexpected turn when Sleep addresses the long-running controversy surrounding Ludacris’ “Get Back” video, the character portrayed by Fatlip, the alleged Mac Dre connection, and the diss record Sleep says eventually reached Ludacris.  We discuss all this, and much more!
