Part 2 of 2 Dubee aka Sugawolf continues his conversation about Drake revisiting Mac Dre’s “2 Hard 4 the Radio”, and in Part 2, he digs even deeper into whether Drake’s record was truly an homage or simply a strategic move.
Dubee questions what actually made the record a tribute to Mac Dre beyond using the song, while also acknowledging the business side of the situation. He explains why Drake—or the people behind him—may have viewed the move completely differently than Mac Dre’s friends and fans.
He also breaks down why he believes Drake’s stature created higher expectations. In Dubee’s view, if one of the biggest artists in the world is going to touch a Mac Dre classic, the finished record should have taken it “through the roof.”
At the same time, Dubee continues to defend Mac Wanda’s right to benefit financially from her son’s legacy and says he won’t go against what Dre’s mother believes is best for Dre’s bloodline.
